Our Classes

Our class names are inspired by our local area.

• Bertram de Bulmer was Sheriff of York and was responsible for the rebuilding of Sheriff Hutton Castle in 1140.
• Anne Neville, wife of Richard III. The important Neville family received overlordship of Sheriff Hutton in 1331.
• The Forest of Galtres was a royal forest established in the Norman period, Sheriff Hutton Castle was built within this forest.
• Castle Howard is a few miles from Sheriff Hutton and is home to the Howard family. Thomas Howard carried out repairs to Sheriff Hutton Castle in 1537.
• The Little Deputies is our nursery and pre-school provision. The name was selected due to links with a Sheriff and the Deputy Sheriff.
