Our whole school theme for the first half of the Spring Term 2015 was ‘What’s Cooking?’ As part of this work the children from Bulmer Class and Neville Class followed the journey of our food – from farm to fork!
They started by thinking about food groups and where our food comes from, their understanding was enhanced by a trip to a local farm to see the animals and crops.
Throughout the term the children completed a range of activities including baking pizzas, biscuits and banana bread.
At the end of the topic all the children in school went to Tesco to complete a ‘Farm to fork trail’. They were able to visit the in-store bakery to see the bread being made and went ‘behind the scenes’ to the huge freezers!
Some children made their own bread shapes! It was great fun – thank you Tesco!
